Blair’s Shoulder-knot (Lithophane leautieri)
Blair’s Shoulder-knot (Lithophane leautieri)

This species originates from the area surrounding the Mediterranean, but has been spreading north. It was first reported from the Isle of Wight 1951 and has been spreading up through the British Isles. My first up here on the north coast was in 2019, and has been annual ever since.

The larvae feeds on cypress, such as Leyland cypress (Cupressocyparis leylandii)

Location: North Antrim
