Waxwing, Belfast
Natural Displays of Colour
The Waxwings seen earlier in the winter don't seem to have stayed around Ballycastle (well I can't find them!) and have probably moved further south in search of food. Who knows it could be the same birds that I caught up with on a lunchtime walk on Thursday in Belfast. Walking up the Lagan towpath towards the Ormeau Bridge I heard the unmistakable call of Waxwings at the top of some nearby trees.

The birds, approximately thirty of them flitted across the busy road to feed on berries beside a bus stop, while people walked and stood only a few feet below. Unfortunately the lighting was great but I did get a few shots before having to go back along the icy paths to the office.

Hopefully they will stay in the area and I can catch up with them again next week.
